*Hymn 117 “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”
A Prayer After the Earthquake in Haiti (responsively)
Lord, A month has passed since the earthquake in Haiti. We realize that the ground beneath our feet is not as solid as we had imagined.
As the things we have built crumble about us, we know too well how small we truly are on this ever-changing, ever-moving planet we call home.
Yet you have promised never to forget us. Lord, comfort the people of Haiti. Be their rock when the earth refuses to stand still, and shelter them under your wings when homes no longer exist.
Embrace in your arms those who have died. Console the hearts of those who mourn, and ease the pain of the wounded.
Pierce our hearts with compassion, we who watch from afar. Move us to act swiftly, to work for justice always and to pray unceasingly for those without hope.
For though the mountains leave their place and the hills be tossed to the ground, your love shall never leave us, and your promise of peace will never be shaken. Amen from a prayer by Diana Macalintai,
Liz Gude will speak on her experiences in Haiti.

Proclamation and Praise
Luke 4:1-13
May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord.
Brief discussion of Luke.
Concerns and Celebrations
Let us pray in silence for the people of Haiti, for those whose names we have spoken and for those close to our hearts.
Unison Prayer
We do not live by bread alone.
We pant for your every word, O God,
And pine for your breathings about us.
Though we presume to know all mysteries,
And boast of knowledge beyond that of our ancestors, In truth, We struggle to answer the simplest of questions. We second guess ourselves and one another at every turn. Teach us, O God, our humble place in the universe As we walk through this howling wilderness.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Hymn 2119 “Holy spirit Come to Us” Jacques Berthier (seated)
Offering “We Give Thee But Thine Own”
Prayer of Dedication (unison)
We offer ourselves with our gifts, confident that you have a purpose for them and for us. Expand our vision to embrace new possibilities. May our offerings reach beyond our former thinking and doing. Amen
*Hymn 378 “Amazing Grace”
Benediction (unison)
May the blessing of God, fountain of living water, flow within us as a river of life. May we drink deep of her wisdom. May we never thirst again. May we go through life refreshing many, as a sign of healing for all; through the One who is Life eternal. Amen M. T. Winter
