CHILMARK COMMUNITY CHURCH, UNITED METHODIST
EPIPHANY SUNDAY January 3, 2010
*********************************************
THE GATHERING TOGETHER
Prelude: Prelude #1 in C by J.S. Bach (Carol Loud)

Lighting the Christ Candle Liturgy:
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
And the city has no need of sun or moon on it,
for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.
The Nations will walk by its light,
and the rulers of the earth will bring their glory into it.
Revelation 21: 23-24 (NRSV)
The Christ candle is lighted as the following is prayed by all:
Break forth, O heavenly Light. Shine forever and let no more greed or hatred near.
Introit: #328 “Surely the Presence of the Lord.”
Welcome and Announcements:
Let us greet each other with the Peace of Christ

Collect #255 Prayer for Epiphany

Children’s Moment:

Prayer of Confession:
O God, we know that we are a wayward people. Our footsteps falter as we seek to follow your way; our gaze is turned away from awareness of you glory to preoccupation with our own needs and concerns; and even our love for one another grows cold. We trust only in your grace to create new life within us and to bind us together in love and common commitment. Let your spirit be born in us anew, and accept our lives, which we offer to you. Amen
