After candle is lit: Unison Prayer
Dear God of the Prophets, give us this day the prophetic word of hope, that in the moments of despair we might look to you for comfort.  We give you thanks for all the prophets past and present.  Amen Duck

*Opening Hymn 196 “ Come Thou Long-Expected Jesus”

Invocation
Compassionate God, greet us with your grace this day, for we need you. Help us to find that place where we can receive as well as give, wait as well as act, and listen as well as speak.  Our whole world needs your peace. Let us come before you and learn  your ways.  Amen
Prayer of Reconcilliation  (unison)
We confess, O god, that we do not take seriously your coming into our lives.  We do not believe that salvation is near; we do not act uprightly , loving you, our neighbors, or ourselves; nor do we bend our swords and spears.  Forgive us, we pray, that we might once again walk in your light.  Amen John W. Riggs

Concerns and Celebrations
Silent Prayer
Communal Prayer
O God, without you, we would be terribly alone.  Without your love, there would be no good life.  We sense that it is through faith that we can know your presence and your love.
Thank you for leading us toward faith.
Amen  Anton K. Jacobs

The Lord’s Prayer

Offering     “ It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
*Hymn 95 “Praise God From Whom All Blessing Flow”
Prayer of Dedication (unison)
God of the Advent, as we joyfully enter this time of waiting, we feel nestled and safe in your everlasting peace. You have taught us the paths and choices that lead to being in your Temple. We wait, hushed in anticipation of the coming of your son. He serves as the guide of our lives and the shepherd of our souls. We hope to emulate his generosity and compassion as we share these gifts. Use these gifts so others can be blanketed with the warmth of your unconditional love, like a newborn baby wrapped in the loving arms of a parent. Amen. (Isaiah 2:1-5)

*Hymn  2171 “Make Me the Channel of Your Peace”

Benediction  (unison)Let us greet the world as children of God, rejoicing in the wonders, sharing its goodness with our sisters and brothers.  And may the vision and reality of God’s peace make this world a happy home for all the human family. Amen
