Any agenda items need to be given to Sarah Carr. Refreshments served. Please plan on being there to do the very important work of an independent church.

New this year

The Flowering of the Cross.

We will incorporate a folk ceremony called “The Flowering of the Cross”. The church will decorate a cross that will be on the church porch beginning Holy Saturday morning (March 30th). The crepe-paper made flowering of the cross represents the transition from crucifixion darkness to Easter resurrection light and serves as a sign of hope for our community and world. On Easter morning come see the flowered cross that symbolizes the new life, hope, and beauty which Easter brings.

Chilmark Church youth and 23-24 swim seasons!

Andy Carr was appointed as one of the captains and seemed to swim personal best times at each meet this year. He started by swimming the 100 butterfly at most meets, then switched to the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle (20 lengths!). He was also part of some amazing relay teams. One of his relays qualified for sectionals and state championship. At the conference championship he swam in 2-first place relays and placed 3rd in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. This year the MVRHS boys swim team won their first ever conference championship and Andy was awarded several awards at their end of season banquet. This year Gabby Carr is a junior at Roger Williams University. Gabby’s conference championship was held at a beautiful facility at the University of Maryland. Over the course of 4 days she swam in 3 relays and 3 individual events. Gabby earned 2-2nd places and one third place medal. She also swam a personal best for her 100 freestyle with a time of 52.36!  She was one of two females to finish in the top 3. Gabby is currently ranked in 1st place on her team and 11th place in the league. Congratulations and we are proud of you!
