Sean McMahon, Music Minister
Sean McMahon has been sharing his music at Chilmark Church since arriving on Martha’s Vineyard in 2016 and became the church’s Music Minister in 2023. Through inspired piano improvisations, acoustic guitar, and original songs often woven around the themes of the sermon, Sean fills the sanctuary with music that is heartfelt, reflective, and uplifting.
The warm acoustics of the church allow his music to resonate beautifully throughout the hall, creating moments of peace, joy, and spiritual connection during worship. A respected island musician, teacher, songwriter, husband, and father, Sean brings sincerity, warmth, and deep faith to the life of the church community.

Violet Southwick
Violet Southwick grew up on the island, graduated from Tabor Academy and in 2024 earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from UMASS, Amherst. She has played in various ensembles and at various venues on the Island and taught strings in the schools.
Violet has played at worship services at the Chilmark Community Church for a number of years and recently has substituted for Sean when he is away or preaching. Her cello and violin resonate in the sanctuary and reach deep into the hearts of the congregation.
