June 5 Neighborhood Convention: The Yard

There was a good turn out to see the popular Yard appearance at the June Neighborhood Convention at Chilmark Church. If possible, the performances and explanations were even more inspiring than ever. 
Artistic Director, David White introduces the Yard and invites all to enjoy the 2018 Summer Season.The dancers introduce themselves with gestures representing their native homes.Above is a moment, sadly out of focus , in an introductory dance. And below, more of the same exercise.Below are a couple of photos of an improvisation involving  maintaining contact .And the pictures of the final and excellent improvisation using words chosen from a dance AP by the audience, just were too poor to share.  You really have to be there..the pictures can’t capture the spirit and vitality.  Be sure to visit the Yard this summer especially the DANCE THE YARD performances in which these dancers appear.  You can find listings at www.dancetheyard.org.
