They last joined us for the wonderful Menemsha Blessing of the Fleet in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WELCOME SUNDAY SCHOOL ASSISTANT GIMILI GLAVIN!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gimili Glavin grew up on Martha\u2019s Vineyard in the 1970s and 1980s and attended the Chilmark School back when it was located in the Police Station. After college, Gimili spent over a decade in New York City working in the Art Departments of indie film productions and television. Although she loved the energy and creativity of New York, the birth of her son, Elliott, in 2006 brought her back to the Island, where she has lived ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n An artist with a passion for creativity, Gimili is always exploring new projects in her studio. However, her greatest joy lies in teaching children\u2019s art classes. Over the past decade, she has directed summer art programs at Old Sculpin Gallery, the Chilmark Community Center, Pathways, and in private settings. Gimili is excited to collaborate with Claire and engage with the church\u2019s children on exciting and creative projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n DECEMBER PROJECT- CWS Blanket Ministry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n As I sit with the cold creeping in, I often think about our neighbors that are experiencing the cold differently than we are. I think about those who can\u2019t afford to keep their furnace turned on, or who spend cold winter nights in their car, or who sleep on a park bench or under a bridge. These are also the times that I think about the impact a simple blanket can make on the spirit of our neighbors in these situations. In December the Chilmark Church will participate in the Church World Service (CWS) Blanket ministry. <\/strong>It is an easy way to be a part of a broad-reaching mission to provide our neighbors that are experiencing poverty, displacement or disaster with a warm blanket to comfort them in their time of need.
