SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are invited to join us for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost September 1st at 9:00am, in person or Zoom. Rev. Charlotte (who has a Covid negative household) will be leading worship along with Music Minister Sean McMahon. Sermon is titled “Every Good & Perfect Gift” <\/strong>from James 1:17-27. The <\/strong>Chilmark Church Choir will be singing<\/strong> “It is Well with My Soul” <\/strong>written in 1876 by Harotio Spafford. Worship order attached. Sunday School is available after the first hymn.  Zoom link below.  Covid-19 is having a late summer surge so please stay healthy. Masks and hand sanitizer are available and we will keep windows and doors open for good air circulation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE CHILMARK CHURCH CELEBRATION – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 15th!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Celebration for church members, friends and invited guests is happening on September 15th<\/sup>\u00a0from 1-3pm! We will have a fun afternoon\u00a0of\u00a0 food,\u00a0music and community.\u00a0 Attorney Dan Dalton (and wife Peggy) from Detroit as well as members of the Reynolds, Rappaport & Kaplan office, our representatives\u00a0in the UMC lawsuit,\u00a0will be in attendance. Come meet them and thank them for an awesome job on our behalf. Also a\u00a0big thank you to the donations and sponsors<\/strong>\u00a0of this afternoon event allowing it to be\u00a0FREE for church and friends<\/strong>.\u00a0If the weather is ghastly we will move to the Community Center. Kairos Bible Study with Rev. Vicky Hanjian<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begins Wednesday September 4, 10:30am in sanctuary of The First Church of West Tisbury. <\/strong>The study will focus on Genesis and use a book titled THE FLAWED FAMILY OF GOD: Stories about the Imperfect Families in Genesis<\/strong> by Carolyn Helsel and Song-Mi Suzie Park. This book is readily available online.The study group will explore the nature of “family” in all its diversity in the 21st century and ponder about how the ancient stories are still alive today. SACRED GROUND SECOND ROUND  Coming January 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Island churches and faith communities are invited to explore inter-racial understanding of American history and current events through participation in Sacred Ground Second Round – 2025. Sacred Ground is a film and reading based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. The 11 part series is built around documentaries and texts that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino and Asian-Pacific histories as they intersect with European American histories. Over 120 islanders participated in the first Sacred Ground program sponsored by the Episcopal Church during COVID. The past participants are now encouraging others to take advantage of this second offering of the course that begins in January 2025.
