SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are invited to join us for communion and Second Sunday after Pentecost June 2nd at 9:00am, in person or Zoom.\u00a0Rev. Charlotte\u00a0will be\u00a0leading worship along with Music Minister Sean McMahon. Sermon is titled\u00a0“Mysterious Encounter”\u00a0<\/strong>from John 3:1-17 when Nicodemus, a Pharisee, comes to Jesus after dark to question his\u00a0teachings. Worship bulletin attached.\u00a0Sunday School is available. Zoom link click\u00a0below at worship time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andy Carr is graduating from MVRHS on June 9th<\/sup>. He will be attending Roger Williams University in the fall and swimming on their swim team. He\u2019s planning on studying Biology with a Pre-Vet track. Andy has enjoyed his Culinary Class all 4 years of high school. It was always a good day when he brought home yummy treats! Andy achieved Honor Roll every year and was inducted into the National Honor Society Junior year. Andy is an active volunteer in his community, his favorite being Joyful Eating and cooking meals for the winter homeless shelter. The highlight of high school for Andy was being a member of the MVRHS swim team since the 7th<\/sup> grade and setting many personal and school records. Currently, Andy is working on completing his Eagle Scout Project. He designed and led his troop in building 2 flag retirement boxes and a flag retirement ceremony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear Andy, Chilmark Church is very proud of all your achievements and grateful\u00a0to have you as a part of our family of faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 BLESSING OF THE FLEET <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had the annual Blessing of the Fleet – commercial, leisure and Coast Guard boats – as our Sunday worship last Sunday. Mark Alan Lovewell and Molly Conole were our musical guests. Beautiful day to do and be a blessing at the harbor. The morning offering raised $632 for the USCG Station Menemsha Auxiliary Fund to support the MS personnel and their families. BABY CALF HAS A NAME<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past Chilmark Chocolates got to name any newborns in the Flanders pasture. The Chilmark Church Sunday School got the honor this year to pick the name of this calf born on Mother’s\u00a0Day. There were 7 names submitted. Julie Flanders picked the winning name out of a hat because they were all soooo good.\u00a0The winner is MG (Mommy’s Girl\/Guy) submitted by the Hart boys!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPEN COUNCIL MEETING RECAP<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new independent church bylaws\/organizational structure adapted in March, the church met on May 19th to approve Nominating’s work on filling the committee positions (attached) and to discuss Sunday School’s need for staffing and funding. Claire Ganz was appointed Sunday School Superintendent as well as lead teacher. A big thank you to the work that she and Andy Carr have been doing every Sunday morning in teaching our little ones. There was also a final UMC litigation report with settlement completed early 2024, a report from the Search Committee, and discussion of the renewal of the interim minister’s yearly contract. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LOBSTER ROLLS STARTING<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sales begin Tuesday June 25th and run weekly thru August. Emily Broderick (erbroderick@hotmail.com<\/a>) is collecting sign-ups for the 3 Tuesday shifts – Morning Prep, Afternoon assembly, Sale\/Clean up, and, in addition, Wednesday Flea vendor lunch sale (if extra). Please let her know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
