On every fourth<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"390.1479999999999\">Sunday of Easter we remembered Jesus as the Good<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"79.464\">Shepherd.<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"417.31066666666675\">Our Resurrection\/Easter readings are filled with symbols<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"372.3133333333334\">of the strength and optimism as the first Christian<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"423.9546666666666\">community received and recognized that the resurrected<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"418.4399999999999\">Christ, their Good Shepherd, was present leading them.<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"389.8986666666667\">Peter made it clear that their strength to survive the<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"236.80800000000002\">hostility they faced came from \u201c\u00a0the Shepherd and<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"207.70933333333335\">Guardian of your souls,\u201d\u00a0(I Peter 2:25b NRSV).<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"207.70933333333335\">The\u00a0first Christians were confident in the risen Christ, the<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"415.78533333333337\">Good Shepherd who had defeated death and the grave!<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"401.30933333333337\">The reading from the Acts of the Apostles tells us that<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"171.59999999999997\">\u201cfilled with the Holy\u00a0Spirit,\u201d Peter was able to speak God\u2019s truth to the powers that were.\u00a0Listen to how Peter puts it when he was asked, \u201c\u00a0By what power or by what\u00a0name do you do this?\u201d<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"428.09066666666655\">(Peter had cured the lame and healed the sick.) He said,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"616.704\">\u201cRulers of the people and elders, if we are questioned today because of a\u00a0good deed done to someone who was sick&#8230;, let it be known to all of you,\u00a0and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in\u00a0good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified,\u00a0whom God raised from the dead.\u201d<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"610.016\">Devout Christians down through the ages have lived out their faith in the world by\u00a0being confident in Christ, and faithful to Christ. Let us sit up and take note of how we ought to live out our faith in our world today.\u00a0May this resurrection season continue to bring you, inner strength and faith to live\u00a0out your devotion to the resurrected Christ in our troubled world.
