Foster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>February 2019 \u2013 Slow To Anger<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Read Together:<\/b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cHe who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who is quick-tempered exalts folly.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Proverbs 14:29<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Playing in and coaching Division 1 college football as a defensive lineman didn\u2019t exactly give me a passive personality.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Every time the center would snap the ball to the quarterback, I was tin the middle of a major gang war!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If I didn\u2019t move quickly and take the fight to the offensive lineman who was trying to demolish me, I would get run over by a stampede of wild horses.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I learned to fight and to fight hard.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">That was on the football field!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Off the football field was a different story.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Last year I spoke at a college event at the University of Colorado where I built a 14-foot cross in front of several hundred college students and shared with them God\u2019s amazing gift of love and grace.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Hundreds responded to the invitation and gave their hearts to Christ. But one student was outraged!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As I leaned against the side wall of the theater, listening to the band play praise and worship music, he approached me in a fury.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He got in my face and called me every dirty word ever written on a bathroom wall!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Yeah, I probably could have taken him to the floor. Yeah, he probably deserved it. Yeah, something inside of me would have enjoyed making him eat his words.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Yeah, once upon a time, years ago, I probably would have taken issue with him.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But when I left football and grew up a little, I left it all on the field.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus said, \u201cLove your enemies and pray for them.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus said, \u201cBe slow to anger.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus said, \u201cBe patient with people.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus said, \u201cVengeance belongs to God.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As the students\u2019 stormed out of the theater, I prayed for him and still pray for him today, that someday our paths will cross again-hopefully in heaven when his anger will be calmed forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Discussion Starters:<\/b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Name three people who \u201cprovoke you to anger.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Compare how you want to react with how you really react.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Compare your reaction to the way God wants you to react?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In reality, why is God\u2019s way best?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Why is it best to be \u201cslow to anger?\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What does today\u2019s verse mean when it says those who are slow to anger have \u201cgreat understanding?\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What do they understand?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Lifeline:<\/b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Ask God to give you the understanding needed to keep your anger in check.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>Reflections<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s2\">Blessings Always, (Numbers 6:24-26)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s2\">Rev.
