\nNineteenth Sunday after Pentecost\/Laity Sunday
\nLaity Sunday is an invitation for the whole church to remember that all the baptized, lay and clergy together, are the people of God. Our English word \u201claity\u201d comes from the Greek word \u201claos\u201d meaning, \u201cpeople.\u201d That same word lies at the root of another \u201cworship word\u201dliturgy\u201c\u2014 , which means \u201cwork of the people\u201d (plus the Greek work, \u2014work). Worship every Sunday is to be \u201cthe work of the people\u201d\u2014a people of many gifts and differing roles.
