Our English word \u201claity\u201d comes from the Greek word \u201claos\u201d meaning, \u201cpeople.\u201d That same word lies at the root of another \u201cworship word\u201dliturgy\u201c\u2014 , which means \u201cwork of the people\u201d (plus the Greek work, \u2014work).
