We\u2019re just about at the end of our first quarter since we\u2019ve had Arlene as Pastor.\u00a0 We have been blessed, indeed, with all she brings to our church family, her love, candor, energy and affability.\u00a0 This is just to touch base with all of you to be sure you\u2019re \u201cin the loop\u201d.<\/p>\n

May 8 or 15\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Church Spring Clean up:\u00a0 Join Community Corrections to do yard,\u00a0 flower beds, windows, etc.<\/p>\n
May 29, 9-1 Chilmark Church Yard and Plant Sale.\u00a0 Arlene already has collected lots of furniture and china.\u00a0 Nancy Cabot has started fabulous seedlings.\u00a0 Ethel Sherman will make jams. Contact a member of the Fund Raising Committee to help:\u00a0 Judy Mayhew, Kathie Carroll, Betty Savage,\u00a0 Katy Upson, Ann Deitrich.<\/p>\n
May 30 11:30\u00a0 Blessing of the Fleet at Dutcher Dock , Menemsha.<\/p>\n
June 1 at 10:45\u00a0 HELP!\u00a0 Neighborhood Convention in Chilmark.\u00a0 Program is \u201cBehind the Scenes\u201d at the Yard. Meeting and worship follows in our Sanctuary .\u00a0 Then we are responsible for drinks, table settings, and deserts for the gathered, usually about 40 or 50.<\/p>\n
June 15 Lobster Roll Dinners to Go begins!\u00a0 Every Tues from 4:30-7.\u00a0 Call Judy Mayhew if you can help.<\/p>\n
June 19, 10-12 Children\u2019s Fair on Church lawn. Contact an Outreach Committee member to help: Kim Cottrill, Fran Flanders, Marilyn Hollinshead, Julie Flanders, Ann Deitrich, Lia Kahler, Judi Worthington.<\/p>\n
June 30 Wed, first Flea Market of season.\u00a0 Renting the wonderful meadow on N. Road from Pat and Joan Jenkinson again. Please sign up later to help with church table etc.<\/p>\n
NEWS:<\/p>\n
The steeple repairs are just about finished.\u00a0 Check the web site for pictures\u00a0 of\u00a0 the work.\u00a0 Bids are in for painting the sanctuary.\u00a0 The Trustees will be hiring the painter, (repairs to plaster also) in the coming days.\u00a0 Bob Hungerford will be starting work on the Bell after he finishes jury duty. All these jobs involve more than meets the eye and thanks to the Trustees for slogging through the details.\u00a0 The Yard is renting the parsonage for the whole summer.\u00a0 Thanks to Flanders Realestate for negotiating the lease etc.<\/p>\n
The Worship Committee reports that the idea behind the Thursday Prayer Service is to give a little more time to those who need our prayers, as well as to enrich our own prayer lives.\u00a0 We also hope that some folks who can\u2019t come on Sunday might try us on a week day. Initially, it will be a service with mostly silent prayer and one or two simple songs.\u00a0 It will last under a half hour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
