Candle Lighting Liturgy
The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promises I have made.
To you, O Lord, we lift up our souls: In you, O God, we trust.
The one who is coming will show us the path of steadfast love and faithfulness.
Teach us your ways, O God of our salvation. We light this candle in the sure hope that God’s promises endure.
[Here light the first Advent candle]
We will live in the light of hope as we await the coming of the Lord.

*Hymn  473 “Lead Me , Lord”

Confession  (unison)
God of grace and glory, we thank you that you judge us not by the perfection of our actions, but by out readiness to live boldly by faith.  Help us, as individuals and as a congregation, to trust you and follow where you lead, that your name may be glorified in all the earth.  Amen

Concerns and Celebration
Unison Prayer:  Let us pray for those who suffer.
Almighty God, shield of the oppressed, hear us as we pray for the friendless and the lonely, the tempted and the unbelieving.  Be merciful to those who suffer, in body or in mind, to those who are in danger or distress, and who have suffered loss.  Let your love surround the infirm and the aged.  Be especially near to those who are passing through the valley of death.  May they find eternal rest, and light at the evening time.  AMEN
