Peace

Call to Reconciliation (unison) (Iona Community)

O God, we gladly live and move and have our being in you. Yet always in the midst of this creation-glory, we often feel deep within ourselves, a striving against your Spirit. We feel beside us the broken, the hungry and the poor, the abuse of the earth, sea, and sky. O God, source of our being, give us the power of discernment to name these injustices and the power to change and act to end all injustices.

—-Silent Personal Confession—-

O God of all creation, who has come to us in Jesus, lead us in your way love and fill us with your Spirit. Forgive us that we may forgive one another, heal us that we may be people of healing. And renew us that we also may be makers of peace. Amen.

Words of Assurance (unison) (Prayer of St. Francis)

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine One, grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand. To be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned. Amen.

Go out into the world in peace. Be of good courage; hold fast to what is good; render to no one evil for evil; strengthen the faint-hearted; support the weak; help the afflicted; honor all people. Be at peace among yourselves; pray without ceasing; give thanks in all circumstances. Love and serve the Lord, rejoice in the power of the Holy Spirit, and remain in the power of love until we meet again. Amen.
